The phone, which used Google's Android operating system and has a fixed price of 499 euros ($678), will be launched in December in Russia and Germany in stores and online in France, Spain and Austria.
The device "rethinks our relation to smartphones," said YotaPhone's general director, Vlad Martynov, who unveiled the in a contemporary art gallery in Moscow.
As well as the full-colour touch screen standard on all smartphones, the YotaPhone has a black-and-white screen on its back using the same electronic ink technology as on reading devices such as Amazon's Kindle.
This extra, low-energy screen remains on all the time, even when the phone is switched off, allowing the user to check the time, messages, a schedule or a map without having to "wake up" the unit, limiting .
Following the December launch, the phone will go on sale in some other European countries, including Britain and Switzerland, and in the Middle East, including in Egypt.
The makers said they have no current plans to offer the phone in Asia or the United States.

Medical radioactive material truck 'stolen in Mexico'

Mexico told the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the truck was carrying a "dangerous radioactive source" used for cancer treatments when it was stolen on Monday.
The radiotherapy source was being taken from a hospital in the northern city of Tijuana to a waste storage centre.
It was stolen near the capital, Mexico City.

Mexico's Nuclear Security Commission said that at the time of the theft, the cobalt-60 teletherapy source was "properly shielded".
But the commission warned it could be "extremely dangerous to a person if removed from the shielding, or if it was damaged".
Local media reported that the truck, a 2.5-tonne Volkswagen Worker, was stolen by armed men at a petrol station in Tepojaco, on the outskirts of Mexico City on Monday morning.

BBC world affairs correspondent Rajesh Mirchandani says Cobalt-60 could theoretically be used in a so-called "dirty bomb" - an explosive device that could spread radioactive material over a wide area - although there is no official suggestion this was the purpose of the theft.
Mexican police are currently conducting a search for the truck and its contents and have issued a press release to alert the public to its potential dangers.
Experts have long warned about the danger posed by radioactive material used for medical treatments and research in hospitals.
The IAEA did not give details on how much radioactive material was in the vehicle when it was seized, but offered to assist Mexican authorities.
"At the time the truck was stolen, the [radioactive] source was properly shielded. However, the source could be extremely dangerous to a person if removed from the shielding, or if it was damaged," the IAEA statement said.
More than 100 incidents of thefts and other unauthorised activities involving nuclear and radioactive material are reported to the IAEA each year.

2 million Facebook, Gmail and Twitter passwords stolen in massive hack

Hackers have stolen usernames and passwords for nearly two million accounts at Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo and others, according to a report released this week.

The massive data breach was a result of keylogging software maliciously installed on an untold number of computers around the world, researchers at cybersecurity firm Trustwave said. The virus was capturing log-in credentials for key websites over the past month and sending those usernames and passwords to a server controlled by the hackers.
On Nov. 24, Trustwave researchers tracked that server, located in the Netherlands. They discovered compromised credentials for more than 93,000 websites, including:
  • 318,000 Facebook (FB, Fortune 500) accounts
  • 70,000 Gmail, Google+ and YouTube accounts
  • 60,000 Yahoo (YHOO, Fortune 500) accounts
  • 22,000 Twitter (TWTR) accounts
  • 9,000 Odnoklassniki accounts (a Russian social network)
  • 8,000 ADP (ADP, Fortune 500) accounts (ADP says it counted 2,400)
  • 8,000 LinkedIn (LNKD)accounts
Trustwave notified these companies of the breach. They posted their findings publicly on Tuesday.
"We don't have evidence they logged into these accounts, but they probably did," said John Miller, a security research manager at Trustwave.

Big questions in Walker crash probe

Four days after the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and his friend and financial manager Roger Rodas, big questions remain unanswered, including:
Did anything go wrong with the vehicle?
The Porsche Carrera GT the two men were in has three times the horsepower of the average car. It's powered by a V-10, 610-horsepower engine. At $450,000 new, it flies down the road and is notoriously difficult to handle.
A top driver has called the car "scary," Autoweek magazine reported.
Rodas was the sixth owner of this one, the magazine said.
Rodas was driving Saturday, according to autopsy results released Wednesday by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Authorities say speed was a factor in the crash. Still, Walker and Rodas were both experienced drivers, leading many to question whether something went wrong with the vehicle.
Jim Torp, a car enthusiast who was at the charity event where Rodas and Walker had been just before the crash, said he thought he heard some kind of blast before the car slammed into a light pole. "What the first explosion was -- I don't know if their tire blew up, because it sounded like a tire blew on the car," Torp told CNN on Monday.
How fast were they going?
The area where the crash took place -- a wide business park road in Valencia, California -- has a reputation for being popular with drivers who like the thrill of going fast. In recent years, authorities have tried to stop the speeding in the area.
A 45-mph speed limit sign was on the light pole knocked down by the Porsche. A security camera video, which does not show the car itself, suggests that black smoke started to rise from the vehicle about a minute after the light pole and tree fell.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigation is focused on how fast the 2005 vehicle was going.
Skid marks on the asphalt near the crash site, which indicate a car had done doughnut spins, also are being examined, but Torp told CNN that he looked closely at the skid marks and believes they were left by a car with smaller tires.
Was anyone else in danger?
Amid the outpouring of grief for the deaths of Walker and Rodas, many people are also asking whether the ride had endangered pedestrians or other drivers. It took place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Online stories about the crash are filled with comments from readers saying it's fortunate that no one else was killed or injured.
In 2001, when the first "Fast & Furious" movie was released, Walker talked about the dangers of drag racing. "Nothing would be worse than a 120-mile-an-hour blowout, on a surface street, you know, with pedestrians lining up and down. You know, it's just common sense, it's just not worth the risk factor," he said.
Authorities have ruled out drag racing in this accident, and those who knew Walker and Rodas say they were not the sort of people who would risk their lives and others' in a race.
